Astragal Glazing Georgian Windows – Langdon Hills.
This project was on a lovely detached, mock Georgian, 6 bedroom house. We supplied and installed white Upvc windows with Astragal Georgian glazing to replicate the original windows of the house.
This project was the result of a recommendation from another lady for whom we had also installed Georgian windows. (Yes, we do a lot of Georgian windows, they are very popular in our catchment area.)
The lady had visited the friend for whom we had initially installed Astragal Glazing and decided she wanted to upgrade to this style. She loved the Astragal Glazing because it replicated the effect of a multi pane window, and it is a near identical match to the current windows in her house.
In this project we installed a total of 17 windows through the whole house. The lady also had a new composite door with Georgian side panels from our new, Contemporary GRP Composite door range.
Replacement Georgian Windows – Noak Bridge
We were contacted by the managing agent for a small block of 6 apartments to replace the original timber Georgian sliding slash windows, with identical UPVC replacements. The property is in a conservation area of Noak Bridge, so all of the new Upvc windows had to be identical in design to the old timber framed windows.
Because of the sensitivity of the glazing’s appearance, we had to go through Basildon Council planning department for permission to replace the existing windows. We were required, understandably, to ‘jump through quite a few hoops’ to meet the stringent requirements of the Planning Authority. We presented samples of the profile – to verify the aesthetic qualities and our Georgian bars also had to be in exactly the same proportions as the panes of the original wooden Georgian windows. We also assisted the client through the planning application process.
Canary Wharf – Replacement Double Glazed Windows
For this project we were contacted by one of the freeholders of the apartments, following a recommendation from an existing customer. There are 6 apartments, with 9 windows plus a set of French doors in each one.
The apartment owner is also on the management committee for the development. She had been repainting her original timber double glazed windows, but this was an expensive process as scaffolding is required. She wanted to consider replacing the timber windows with Upvc. Fitting new wooden windows would be expensive, as scaffolding would again be required.
Upvc windows can be installed from inside the dwelling, obviating the expense of scaffolding. So, the lady arranged for us to install new Upvc windows. She was delighted with the work we did and gave our details to all of the other residents.
We have now been nominated as the preferred contractor for the building and have ongoing contracts to gradually install new Upvc double glazing, to the same standard, throughout the development. The lease holder’s permission is required to replace windows, and they are very satisfied with the quality of our installations.
In this development we are installing fully reversible casement windows. We have to match, precisely, the dimensions of the windows coming out. Not many installers can offer fully reversible windows to such tight tolerances.
